Dubb: For Ethnic Indian food in Istanbul
Dubb (pronounced Doob) was one of the best Indian restaurant in Istanbul. And for an Indian vegetarian family, an Indian vegetarian restaurant in Istanbul was the most filling and healthy option around.
For other vegetarian food options in Turkey or Vegan food in Istanbul, you can take a look at this post.
We loved their preparation especially their naans, just the right amount of spice in their veggies, and the soft paneer served in an authentic Indian setup. That makes them the best Indian restaurant in Istanbul.

- Cuisine
- Dubb (pronounced as Doob, translating to the holy grass used for religious purposes, in Hindi) serves primarily North Indian food with a lot of variety in both vegetarian and Non vegetarian. If you are looking for a vegetarian restaurant in Istanbul, you can totally choose Dubb. There are many Indian restaurants in Istanbul and the cuisine across most of them is similar. It was also a good place for vegan food in Istanbul due to their choice of lentils and rice which are dairy free.
- Location, Parking and Opening Hours
- Located in Sultanahmet district right next to the Hippodrome and thus to all the key attractions of the old world in Turkey. Its location adds to its charm as the best Indian restaurant in Istanbul.
- The place has practically no parking so I advise to use public transport. Most of the Indian restaurants in Istanbul are located in packed and touristy areas so public transport is advisable across all.
- Our Order
We found the food really yum and this being our only option for North Indian food around our hotel, we frequented it during out course of stay here. While you may not find a pure vegetarian restaurant in Istanbul, Dubb had enough vegetarian options and a good place for vegan food in Istanbul
We ordered the following and at different points did dine in and take away too:- Kadhai Paneer
- Yellow Dal
- Zeera Aloo
- Naan
- Lachha Paratha
- Rice
- Service:
- The restaurant is usually really busy and the staff is not particularly warm
- Food is served in about 20 minutes after placing the order
- Ambience
- As with all other Indian restaurants in Istanbul, Indian Ethnic decor is a common feature
- They also have a terrace seating which gets booked pretty fast in the tourist season, especially if its good weather.
- A prior reservation is recommended as the restaurant is pretty busy
- Its spread on 3 floors in a sort of cramped space. Not stroller friendly.
- Cost for 4
- For something like what we ordered it would be in the range of TL 200.
