Oregano Restaurant in Dubai
I recommend Oregano Restaurant in Dubai if you are in the vicinity. For us, it was just a 15min drive from Dubai Marina and we would love to go again to try other things on the menu. If you’re looking for a pocket friendly Italian restaurant in Dubai, look no further.
Cuisine: Italian
It is a Ligurian inspired cuisine (Liguria is a place in north west coast of Italy, where one of the founders Maurizio was born and brought up).
Since Liguaria is a coastal region, the cuisine boasts of some very famous Italian seafood recipes. Ours is a vegetarian family so we did not partake in trying any of them.
Looking for other great places to eat in Dubai, don’t miss this post.
Location: Jumeirah Island Pavillion, Emirate Hills
Oregano is a chain of restaurants with 8 outlets in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi. They also do home deliveries.
While there is no dearth of Italian restaurant in Dubai almost everything that Oregano served was delicious with a bit of distinct flavor.
Our Order:
Like with any Italian restaurant in Dubai, Olive oil, Basil and chilli oil, oregano, chilli flakes and pepper were the standard table top condiments. As soon as we were seated and placed our order, we were served with a kind of diamond shaped pizza bread (not the usual garlic loaf or dinner rolls).
Classic Margherita: thin crust. Regular, as a margherita is. The one at Pizza express is my all-time favorite and this one doesn’t match up probably because this was a Liguarian style one.
Verdure: A vegetarian pizza with a generous doze of toppings. Thin crust and just enough cheesy too. Recommended to try.
Aglio Olio pasta: I did not try it as I am not very fond of garlic oil but the others quite liked it
Pesto Pasta: Loved their pine nuts in the pasta. Pesto was more basil with whole pine kernels put in the pasta. While it did not taste like a pine pesto, the whole pine kernels which the chef had put in were abundant and very fresh (not stale as served in a few places)
Minestrone soup: Folk-lores suggest that Minestrone soup was born in Liguaria. While we can’t be sure if that is true or not, what Oregano Restaurant in Dubai, served us was definitely a perfect one. It even had kidney beans – a combination I had not experienced before and one that I would totally recommend now.
Service:
Their service has to be lauded. We had a 6month pregnant mom and a 2yr old baby. The staff made sure that both of them were comfortable. We also had a few changes in our order and they were able to manage it almost spot on. The pizza took about 15minutes closely followed by pasta and soup
Ambience:
Oregano Restaurant in Dubai is not an Italian fine dine but more like a café with the décor and interiors being more café-ish casual. The place oversees a water body which has colorfully lit up fountains adding to the café feel.
Cost for 4 (including 2 kids): AED 300 (INR 5,000)
We did not order any antipasti (starters), drinks, sides or desserts.
